The third (and final) mini-report from the Stop G8 demonstrations on the streets of London.
We hear about the plans for the No Borders camp happening in Rotterdam, about the Die-In outside G4S and finally a preview of tomorrows actions in the east end!
The first report from the J11 demonstrations on the streets of London. We’re planning to put a couple more out over the next couple of days covering some of the actions coming up.
We’re having a go at going shorter but more regular – expect shows clocking in at under an hour every couple of weeks.
This show we talk to someone from Chiapas about what’s going on in the Zapatista communities over there. We hear about the on going court case against a group of squatters in Germany. Doom brings us up to speed on the case of a Nottingham man who has been unjustly been put on remand for alleged “threatening behaviour” during a DWP interview. We also catch up with Eva at Nottingham Uni. to talk about the crossovers between activism and academia with a focus on animal rights and Veganism.
We also get a couple of poems from a local group called Persona Non Gratis
All this and a fresh tune from Gallery 47 and Metaphi’s remix of the Animist tune Tin Head
An old woman from Grantham dies, but capitalism lives on. Thankfully in this show we’re talking about alternative economic model parecon, so hopefully we’ll have brought the system down by the next show. In order to do this we’ll need some planes of war which is fortunate because we have El Dia spitting them out. We got Kebab bringing us news on photographic exploration of journey’s and the bedroom tax demo. Plus music from Morris Cowen and Fresh Eyes for the Dead Guy.
Wow, that was quite a long commercial break!
We’re back with show packed full of exciting projects and great music. Here’s a rundown of the show times to give you an idea of what to expect. We’re really sorry about the sound quality on some of this – we’ve not really moved with the times and have some pretty out dated equipment! We’ll be sure to make more of an effort next month to make it a bit more pro!

This week we have more reporting from Calais, where increasingly violent deportations of people seeking asylum are being monitored by No Borders activists. Back in the UK, while legitimised gatherings are now being targetted by the authorities, other spaces are secure and viable. We hear about an upcoming event at the occupied JB Spray former factory building, where from August 21-23rd people interested in or active on migration and related issues are invited to a weekend of discussions and workshops on the theme of going ‘Beyond Borders’. We talk to one of the event’s organisers.
Also check in for the latest on plans to scupper the racist plot-fest the ‘Red, White and Blue’ festival, coming to a town near you this August, and find out about a new alternative mental health project in Nottingham, as Ben has a chat with Penny. Special thanks must go out to Leni Ward, Home Stereo and Made of Leaves for coming to the rescue and sorting the music for the show at the last minute. Y’all sounding great!
As always we love to hear your feedback in the comments section, and don’t forget – if you’re the slightest bit interested in getting involved with Riseup! Radio, drop us an email!

Welcome to the Mid July edition of Riseup! Radio, that’s right! Mid July becoz we are doing (or at least attempting to) TWO shows a month!
On this months mid show we’ve enlisted the skills of a new producer to boost your audio pleasure, we hope you like it.
On the show expect to hear music from Fists and new music from Bonsai Projects new album, as well as tons of news including: No Borders visit to the ‘Jungle’ at Calais where refugees are waiting in limbo; how to set up a new housing co-op; news of a new local food co-op and a report from the first Refugee forum skill share.
As always we love to hear your feedback in the comments section, and don’t forget if you at all in the slightest bit interested in getting involved with Riseup! Radio drop us an email! xx.
We deal with this first in a series of summer heatwaves by getting drunk on the tarmac of May’s back yard, passing round an I-River and plugging in some cracking pre-recorded content, including a wordy discussion about the plight and potential of the workers who keep the wheels turning. We also listen in to the sounds of the Sumac garden project, talk to a food co-op in Lenton, and unveil a new ‘spokesman’. Enjoy tunes from the Rhizome housing co-op benefit gig, and the usual added injection of up-to-date bleeps.
